Day 1

Transfer to local airport for flight AEP/IGR, Morning arrival to Iguazu local airport where we meet you and transfer to the hotel. PM Puerto Iguazú visit to the Hummingbird Garden, a private park with well attended feeders where it is possible to see up to 7 different species of wild hummingbirds, such as Black Jacobin, Scale-throated Hermit and Violet-capped Woodnymph. Return to the hotel on Argentina side in the evening.

Day 2

Early in the morning by 6:00 (the National Park opens to regular visitors by 8:00) we will visit the best birding areas in the Park, in search of typical species of the Atlantic Forest, such as Surucua Trogon, Rufous-capped Motmot, Creamy-bellied Gnatcacher, White-eyed Foliage-gleaner, Robust Woodpecker and Spot-backed Antshrike, amongst many others. Afternoon birding around the most spectacular fall, the Devil´s Throat. We will reach that area walking along a footbridge across the delta of the Iguazú river and along the waterfalls. During the walk, it will be possible to spot White-winged Swallows flying over the river, Yellow-billed Cardinals singing from the reeds, Muscovy Ducks, Anhingas, Kingfishers, Herons… and from the balcony at the Devil´s Throat we will be able to watch hundreds of Great Dusky Swifts doing their acrobatic flight through the curtains of the falls to roost on the rocks behind them.

Day 3

Early pick up, by 6:00 for a full morning birding along the Yacaratia Trail amidst Paranaense Forest of the National Park driving our 4×4 vehicle and giving lots of short walks. We return to the hotel for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon we will explore the Argentinian side of the falls by walking along the upper and lower trails. These circuits at the Falls are good place to look for the rare Black-fronted Piping Guan so we also hope for good views of this attractive vulnerable species. Evening return to the hotel.

Day 4

Full day Tour visiting the Urugua-i Provincial Park. This protected area is situated 100 km south and east from Puerto Iguazú but it is a pristine section of Planalto forest not to be missed for here we can find some birds extremely rare in Iguazú, such as Planalto Tapaculo, Grey-bellied Spinetail, Dusky-tailed Antbird, Large-tailed Antshrike, and Ochre-faced Tody-Flycatcher. Box lunch in the camping area. In the afternoon we return to Puerto Iguazú

Day 5

Morning devoted to birding new areas in the National Park, such as the 101 road, in search of many other target birds that may include Tufted Antshrike, the minute Ochre–collared Piculet, Southern Antpipit, Blue Manakin, Chesnut-bellied Euphonia, Green-headed Tanager and many others. Transfer in the early afternoon for your flight. Night in Buenos Aires

Day 6

Transfer out .


Optional tour visiting the Brazilian side of the Falls from where we enjoy panoramic views along the trails and can also make some birding, especially if we find fruiting trees that will atract Toco Toucan and a variety of Tanagers. We return to the hotel on Argentina side in the evening.
